  • Plastic surgery is a broad and innovative surgical subspecialty. Plastic surgeons have the anatomical knowledge and technical skills to operate on most of the body. It is an inherently creative specialty where reconstructive skills are used to restore form and function for a vast range of conditions. Plastic surgeons often work in collaboration with other surgical specialities to solve complex problems.

The word ‘plastic’ derives from the Greek word "plastikos," meaning "to mould" or "to shape". Despite its name, the field does not typically involve the use of plastic materials; rather, it focuses on the body's own tissues. Implants are used in specific circumstances but these are not made from the type of plastic materials you see in day to day life.

  • All surgery comes with risks. Emily is committed to patient safety and works with rigorous safety standards. Determining if the risk-benefit ratio is right for you is a very individual decision. Emily will work with you to ensure you make the right decision for your unique needs.
